Manufacturing and fabrication
Our fabrication facility consists of three separate bays totalling 60,000 square feet with a modern lay out to ensure efficient fabrication and materials handling.
Materials are delivered ‘just in time’ to a receipt and storage area where all items are checked by our QA/QC team prior to being released into the main workshop.
Materials are moved from the storage area to the main workshop using a conveyor system to reduce handling time, these are then drilled, marked, stamped, and cut to length automatically using state of the art Ficep multi-function processing machines which can handle the largest sections rolled by the mill.
Peers award winning and experienced Design Team use state of the art design software and Tekla detailing facilities to offer clients value engineering and options for modular construction and constructability at the beginning of contracts to gain the best advantage.
All projects are modelled using the very latest 3D modelling software - Tekla Structures. This ensures all projects are fully BIM compliant in the transfer of project data. This advanced modelling software is complemented by our in house Strumis Management Software and allows up to the minute monitoring of the fabrication of all projects.
The early choice of materials, connectivity and consideration of construction interfaces all add to the benefits Peers can offer a project.
We are also proud to be a founding member of the Design Best Practice Initiative (see www.dbp.org.uk) bringing innovative solutions to construction.
Here at Peers, we boast a highly trained construction workforce and alliance partners. Working closely with the project management team, they are leaders in steel erection and always utilise the latest equipment on site.
The nature of our work in the Nuclear and Petrochemical sectors puts a great emphasis on the quality of the people employed, their training, and the provision of modern equipment and safety is of paramount importance.
Our training standards are extremely high; this means we can ensure performance excellence and health and safety standards. We work closely with equipment manufacturers to ensure that efficiency and safety are always at the forefront of operations.
Our health and safety team monitors all sites on a regular basis to make sure these essential standards are maintained.
Our project management team have paramount experience when it comes to our specialist sectors. Your project manager will be your assigned, single point of contact, handling all communications and collaborating with suppliers and relevant on-site teams to ensure the smooth management of a project.
Their primary objective is to ensure optimum performance in all aspects of your project.
Peers are accredited to BS EN 1090-2:2018 and we have a dedicated in-house team of suitably qualified and experienced quality assurance and quality control personnel to ensure the exact standards our clients demand of us is met - and exceeded.
With over 88 years of experience in Steelwork and associated trades, Peers offer complete building packages which include:
- The structural steel frame
- Handrail, flooring, stairs and ladders
- Roof and wall cladding
- Doors and windows
- Metal decking and shear studs
We have a dedicated modular build facility at the rear of our works shop which has a fully tarmacked hard standing area has been designed and compacted to withstand large crane loads. This facility allows us to offer an off-site modular solution to our clients. The facility is self-sufficient with utilities and security and is suitable for the assembly of Pre-Assembled Units (PAU), Pre-Assembled Racks (PAR) and other modular assemblies.
We have also worked with several of our clients to deliver modules completely fitted out with M&E, piping, and cable containment, saving on site build time, and dramatically reducing work at height.
Where off-site modular build is constrained by the road network, Peers have worked with our clients to deliver on-site modular solutions. This approach has been instrumental in reducing work at height and increasing productivity by allowing multiple contractors activities to be worked in parallel.
